Attached the recommendations on the draft resolutions of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands COP 10, 28 October till 4 November 2008 in Korea.
Mangroves as an ecosystem are capable of performing certain functions or environmental services. Mangrove plants produce organic matter through photosynthesis and this produces the food for most of the fish and shellfish in the coastal waters. Fish and shrimp catches increase with the increasing presence of mangroves in the inter-tidal zone.

This pubication describes in a short and simple way the main ecological characteristics of mangroves in Thailand.
This is a final report of the study on "Ecological Assessment of Waterbirds and Wetlands along the Ranong and Phang-Nga Coastal Areas, Thailand" carried out by Wetlands International-Thailand Office with financial support from the IUCN Thailand. The Coastal HAbitats and Resources Management (CHARM) project was a five year collaborative project between the European Union (EU) and the Royal THai Government (RTG), implemented through the Department of Fisheries (DoF) and CHARM,s own staff. CHARM attempted to produce a coastal resource management framework through the promotion of co-management between the RTG at all levels and the private sector, non-government organisations and local communities.

This brochure was produced under AWCF funded "Public Awareness Capaign to Enhance Conservation of Migratory Shorebird and their Habitat in Andaman Coast, Thialand. The brochure provide information on the shorebird and its flyway with enplanation on "East Asian-Australasian Shorebird Reserve Network".
